MOUNT
LAUREL, NJ, AUGUST 14, 2007 – Marilyn Cavanaugh
of Country Woods Unfinished Furniture in Raymond, New Hampshire
has been honored with the Distinguished Member Award from the
Unfinished Furniture Association (UFA). The Award was
presented at the UFA 2007 Real Wood Furniture Finished Your
Way® Trade Show, held recently in Columbus, Ohio.
UFA is the national organization of manufacturers and retailers
specializing in real wood and ready-to-finish furniture.
UFA members offer consumers a wide variety of durable, long-lasting
customizable pieces of furniture for their unique taste and
décor. The Distinguished Member Award is presented
by UFA to retailers who have had a positive impact on the unfinished
furniture industry and the association. This Award is
of particular significance because the individuals nominated
are selected by their peers in the furniture industry.
Cavanaugh has long been a champion for the unfinished furniture
industry. Throughout the course of her 23 years in the
business, she has promoted the benefits of unfinished furniture
by educating the public about the quality of real wood and helped
found the Northeast Unfinished Furniture Association which later
became UFA. She served on the UFA Board of Directors for
several years as well as on various committees. According
to Cavanaugh, it was not only the quality of unfinished products
which maintained her interest in this business; it was also
the people. “The people whom I met, like the real
wood I sold, were…the ‘real thing’.
I love so many people in our industry. They are genuine,
caring, forthcoming individuals.”
Owning an unfinished furniture store has brought Cavanaugh much
joy through the years. It afforded her the opportunity
to accomplish positive things in her community from helping
to build the neighborhood park to supporting the Society for
the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. To Cavanaugh,
unfinished furniture provided a way to offer a quality product
at an honest price and reap the rewards of working in this industry.
“It’s that smile, that connection with another person
that makes our daily business worthwhile. It is what has
made these past 23 years so rewarding and what makes me so proud
to receive this award.”
UFA is a national trade association of more than 650 retailers,
manufacturers and sales representatives in the United Sates,
Canada and Bahamas whose mission is to support the growing unfinished
furniture industry.

Country
Woods Featured in the April 2004 Edition of
Country Home Magazine |
| Country
Woods was featured in the April edition of Country
Home magazine in an article entitled 'Powder Rooms'.
Country Home magazine is a lifestyle publication dedicated
to helping readers bring the comforts and pleasures of country
style into their homes and lives.

Some
of our most popular pieces are displayed on pages 103 and
104 of the magazine, shown below. |
On
this page: Organize your office with colorful cubbies and
baskets. Mix paints from viridian green and ultra blue
pigments and water, then rub them in with a rag to infuse
unfinished wood with translucent tints.
|
On
this page: 1. Whipping up your
own vibrant paints using powdered pigments is fun and easy,
requiring just a few materials. 2.
For style underfoot, this stenciled floor starts with a blue-green
pigment paint applied with a wet rag. Once it has dried,
create a border using painter's tape and coat with yellow,
then stencil on cheery daisies. 3.
Create a room with a viewpoint by dousing woodwork with sunny
yellow, which calls attention to architectural details.
For contrast, paint a side chair cobalt blue. 4.
Color-coordinate a wooden window-box planter in petal-inspired
shades. 5. Corral photos, stones,
shells, and other decorative elements in festively painted
inexpensive wooden vessels from an art supply catalog. 6.
A find from an unpainted furniture store, this apothecary
nightstand delivers now that its plain exterior has been drenched
in very-cherry cerise. 7. Because
pigments are concentrated, a little of the magical colored
dust goes a long way. 8. Brighten
your kitchen with a rainbow of vintage wooden chairs in juicy-fruit
yellow, minty green, sky blue, and watermelon pink.
